Hyderabad: Italy-based Piaggio has launched 3-wheeler passenger and cargo alternative-fuel variants with water cooled engine for Telangana market. These new variants are part of the new industry-first water cooled engine technology range.
The vehicles will meet the growing demand for commercial vehicle mobility solutions particularly suited to inter-city travel. These are launched simultaneously in many locations across 25 cities in India.
In the past, 3-wheelers used to run only on diesel. But Piaggio developed and launched alternative fuel CNG and LPG vehicles. The new variants with water cooled engines need to be serviced once in 10,000 kms unlike for every 1,500 kms as in the past.
Priced at Rs 2.4 lakh for passenger and Rs 2.25 lakh for cargo, these new variants are introduced as part of its plan to introduce three-wheelers with more alternative fuel options.
These newly launched variants reduce emission, 20 per cent more fuel efficient, consume less spare parts and offer better operational economy.
The company aims to sell 1.75 lakh three wheelers in this calendar year across India. In Telangana alone, it aims to sell 12,000 cargo and passenger vehicles. The company is planning to roll out electric autos by July 2019.
