Hyderabad: A picture is worth a thousand words with photographs having a unique ability to tell untold stories, Telangana Media Academy Chairman Allam Narayana said on Wednesday.
The Media Academy Chairman was speaking at the photo exhibition organised by the Telangana Photojournalists Association on the occasion of World Photography Day here at Ravindra Bharati.
Narayana, along with TRS Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar inaugurated the exhibition.
Narayana said every picture evokes a memory and stories associated with it. Photographs depicting various events related to the fast-unto-death during the Statehood movement by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Million March, the sacrifice of Srikanta Chary will remain important part of history, he added.
After formation of the State, this photography exhibition was being held every year. Narayana said this year, the number of entries have exceeded those received in previous years. All facilities being extended to journalists in the State will also be provided to photojournalists, the Media Academy Chairman said.
The exhibition will remain open till August 19 and visitors can view the photographs between 10.30 am to 8 pm.
Santosh Kumar recalled the role played by photojournalists during the Statehood movement and assured that their needs would be attended to.
Among those who took part in the inaugural function of the photography exhibition were Director Cultural Affairs Mamidi Harikrishna, TUWJ treasurer Maruti Sagar, and Telangana Photojournalists Association president Bhaskar.
