Hyderabad: Former secretary John Manoj has said they would welcome any good decisions taken by the present body of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), headed by G Vivekanand and T Shesh Narayan.

He, however, cautioned the association not to take any decisions on cricketing matters. “As per the Lodha Committee, page number 33 and chapter number five, the players association has to decide on various appointments of coaches, physios and trainers. So, it is therefore necessary to form the players’ panel first.

“The apex body cannot take decision on cricketing matters without the players association and this has been clearly mentioned by the Lodha Committee.’’

He said he would not like to comment on reducing the number of teams in the A-1 three-day league division. He added that during their reign, they too used the services of eminent Test cricketers like VVS Laxman, Venkatapathy Raju or Purnima Rau.

He pointed out it is sad there is a lull in the activity at Gymkhana ground. “In fact, we had plans to start the pre-season camp from April 11. We have a lot of things put in place in the Academy under MV Narasimha Rao as director. Now, they have to start the process of selection of probable list for the various categories.’’
