Hyderabad: A two judge Bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Uma Devi on Wednesday adjourned a writ petition filed by Appa Rao and thirteen other police constables working in Telangana seeking employment as Sub-Inspectors of Police in Andhra Pradesh, to June 19.

The petitioners are aggrieved by the decision of the AP government in refusing to consider them against a reserved quota of 5% for in-service candidates.

The petitioners contended that simply because they were posted by the erstwhile government in Telangana they cannot be denied consideration since admittedly they belonged to the erstwhile AP. Exclusion from the category entitled for 5% of the posts is challenged as arbitrary and illegal.
