Jangaon: Jangaon Police arrested a gang of seven youngsters for their alleged involvement in selling ganja here on Sunday and seized five kg of the banned cannabis, four cars, two motorcycles and four cell phones from their poccession.
Speaking at a press meet held here on Monday, DCP Srinivas Reddy said the police raided a house of one Mukkala Chandu at Banapuram Indiramma Colony in the town after they received reliable information about the peddling. “Our teams raided the house and arrested six youths, all aged below 20 years and seized the ganja from their possession,” he said. The arrested were identified as Aman Srivastav, Emma Siddu aka Vinay, Ullengula Raj, Karre Suresh, Mamidala Bharath, Duddula Rajashekar and Gudepu Pranay Kumar.
Police began a manhunt for another peddler who was supplying ganja to them. “Since they were habituated to illegal activities, they wanted to make easy money by selling the banned ganja after purchasing it from one person in Kazipet in Warangal Urban district,” the DCP said, adding, PD Act against the peddlers would be invoked and they would be booked under non-bailable sections of the IPC. It is said that the ganja smugglers were selling the narcotics at around Rs 10,500 per kg.
