Hyderabad: West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police AR Srinivas along with the Habeebnagar police raided an adulterated pickle manufacturing unit and arrested the owner here late evening on Wednesday.
More than 80 jars of mango and lemon pickles, along with other equipment, all together worth Rs 32 lakh were seized.
Habeeb Nagar police said the owner, Ismail, had set up the illegal manufacturing unit in a residential area without valid license.
“He had neither a valid license nor was the pickles made under hygienic conditions. When we raided the premises, we found dust all over the floor and ceiling. Birds and cats were also seen resting in the corners. The content in the jars were rotten and a pungent smell was emanating from them,” police said.
A case has been booked and a probe is on.
