Police seize ganja worth Rs 20 lakh in Mahabubabad

Mahabubabad: Police have arrested six persons on the charges of smuggling ganja and seized two quintals of dried ganja (marijuana) from them at Rallavagudasru thanda, a hamlet under Sithanagaram Gram Panchayat limits of Gudur mandal in the district on Tuesday. The police have also seized a car used to transport the banned substance.  The arrested have been identified as Bhukya Laxman and five others of the Rallavagudasru thanda.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, SP N Koti Reddy said that the Gudur police had rushed to Rallavagudasru thanda on receiving information about the ganja smuggling and nabbed six persons involved in it. However, one accused Banothu Redya of Padaharuchinthal thanda of Chennaraopet mandal in Warangal Rural district, has escaped from the police. The accused were allegedly purchasing the ganja from Bhadrachalam Agency area  and Malknagiri of Odisha State to sell it at different places including towns in erstwhile Warangal district, Hyderabad and other States to earn easy money.
