Telangana: Preparations for MPTC, ZPTC polls begins

Khammam: With the Telangana State Election Commission proposing to conduct Mandal Parishad and Zilla Parishad elections, the training for presiding officers (POs) and assistant presiding officers (APOs) began in the district on Monday.

The training for POs and APOs was conducted in Konijerla, Nelakondapalli, Kusumanchi, Tirumalayapalem and other mandals, in the district, on Monday. According to official sources, elections would be conducted for around 289 MPTCs and 20 ZPTCs in the district.

The district administration had appointed around 1,925 POs and equal number of APOs to conduct the elections, he said. There were 1,612 polling stations and as many as 7, 73,345 voters, officials said.

The District Collector RV Karnan and the Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ch Priyanka visited the POs and APOs training camp at Konijerla mandal headquarters on Monday.

The officials asked the POs and APOs to fully understand the guidelines set by the State Election Commission for conducting the polls. Since it had been proposed to hold the elections from April 22 to May 14, the staff must be well prepared to conduct the polls, they added.
