Kothagudem: District Collector MV Reddy has ordered a probe into the incident involving doctors who declared a live new born child dead at Bhadrachalam Area Hospital in Kothagudem district

He appointed Bhadrachalam Revenue Divisional Officer Swarna Latha as the enquiry officer to probe into the incident. The RDO was asked to submit a detailed report based on the enquiry at the earliest.

The Collector expressed his ire at the incident and warned that any negligence in offering treatment to patients at government hospitals would not be tolerated. Action would be taken against the erring health officials after the report is submitted, he said.

It may be recalled that six months pregnant woman M Sunitha of Narsingapuram of Chintur mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. The doctors performed caesarian on Saturday and delivered twins, a boy and a girl. The doctors declared the baby boy dead as there was no movement in the child’s body and the infant was underweight, weighing only 568 grams.

The child wrapped in a cover was handed over to the parents, who after sometime found the child alive. The infant was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for better medical care.
