Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar was welcomed on a grand note on his maiden visit to Khammam on Thursday after his induction into the Cabinet.
A huge number of TRS leaders and workers, elected members reached Nayakangudem, the entry point into the district and welcomed the Minister with a massive bike rally to the city.
Addressing the meeting held at Sardar Patel Stadium in the town, Ajay Kumar, who thanked the people of the district for their warm welcome, said he would dedicate himself for an overall development of Khammam district.
He asserted that he would work along with all the elected members, officials and the party leaders in ensuring the growth of the district in all the sectors. “Minister post was a gift from the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and he dedicates it to the Khammam people,” he said.
Ajay Kumar assured that he would make committed efforts to complete the construction of Seetarama Project at the earliest. “I would not let down the party workers and people who elected me. Khammam would be at the forefront in terms of development” he added.
MP Nama Nageswar Rao in his address said Khammam had got a unique identity in the State politics as many stalwarts were produced from the district. The people, who gave a contrasting poll verdict in last Assembly later, voted wisely to walk with the Chief Minister. “I thank the Chief Minister and the party working president KT Rama Rao for giving political opportunities to the Khammam leaders. Similarly, Ajay Kumar has got the opportunity to serve the people and he should strive to earn good reputation to the district’ he noted.
ZP Chairmen L Kamalraj and K Kanakaiah, MLC B Lakshmi Narayana, MLAs Vanama Venkateswar Rao, K Upender Reddy, L Ramulu Naik, B Haripriya, Mayor G Papalal and others were also present at the programme.
Meanwhile, the District Collector RV Karnan, Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal and other senior officials called on the Minister at Officers Guest House in the town and extended their wishes on his appointment as the Minister.
