Warangal Urban: Stating that former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao was the most efficient Prime Minister, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Sunday said the bold decisions, particularly economic reforms, taken by him has put the country on the path of growth, besides setting the trend for his successors.
The Minister was speaking after garlanding Narasimha Rao’s statue at Hanamkonda bus station junction here as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Narasimha Rao, He said Narasimha Rao, who was the epitome of Indian culture and traditions, was also a polyglot and a great intellectual.
“Born in Laknepally village in erstwhile Warangal district, Narasimha Rao’s education, journey in literature and political career, all important events in his life, took off in Warangal district. The land reforms and land ceiling act in the State as Chief Minister and the economic reforms as Prime Minister were some of the bold decisions taken by Narasimha Rao,” he added.
Recalling his association with Narasimha Rao, Dayakar Rao said that he along with Kadiyam Srihari once met him in Delhi when he was Prime Minister. “He enquired about my father and family. He said that my father did not succeed in politics because of various reasons and remained a sarpanch. His words left an impact on me and I derived my inspiration in politics from Narasimha Rao. People of Telangana should be proud of him,” Dayakar Rao said.
Thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for his decision to organise year-long centenary celebrations, the Minister directed District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu to take steps to organise the celebrations in a grand manner. Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, MPs V Lakshmikantha Rao, Banda Prakash and others also paid tributes to Narasimha Rao.
