Raasta Studios believes emerging technologies can aid in training, assessing and improving patient experience in healthcare.

Hyderabad: Virtual Raasta, a Hyderabad-based startup and a creative video production house, which showcased Telangana Life Sciences Hub at the World Economic Forum, is going to enable delegates/visitors experience the disruption of healthcare at BioAsia 2019 being held here starting Monday with its Experience Zone.

Using immersive virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and 360 degree interactive experience, the company will showcase aspects such as immersive and interactive human anatomy, connecting patients through VR, future of healthcare assessments and future skills, VR experience of genome editing, interactive medical training experience in VR, AR in the healthcare sector, and mixed reality (MR) and the future of healthcare. A four-member Virtual Raasta’s team has developed the Experience Zone.

Virtual Raasta co-founder Prem Kumar Vislawath told Telangana Today, “The entire life sciences fraternity will come together at BioAsia. We want this community to experience the emerging technologies. AR, VR and MR will be helpful in conducting training and assessment in health care and improve patient experience. Also Telangana Life Sciences Virtual Reality experience has also been created on this occasion.”

He added, “We have worked on all these technologies and are serving both pharma and healthcare companies. With the assessment tool we have developed, it is going to help surgeons with skills and information processing during surgeries. These technologies will also help patients become more connected to a doctor or a surgeon during treatment and surgeries. Patient care can be further enhanced while significantly saving doctors’ time.”

Saying these technologies have wider applications, he explains, in the pharmaceuticals / biotechnology industry, whenever a new drug or vaccine is being rolled out, it becomes more effective to reach out to doctors and other stakeholders to share the strengths of the product and how it works.

Virtual reality is an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. Augmented reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that are in the real-world are “augmented” by computer-generated perceptual information. Mixed reality is hybrid reality where real and virtual worlds produce new environments and visualisation where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real-time.
