Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat on Thursday came to the help of a youngster and his mother, who were stranded near Ghatkesar, unable to go to their home in Warangal after being discharged from the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital here.

The youngster, Bhukya Ram (30), a resident of Guduru village of Narsampet in Warangal, was admitted to the eye hospital about a fortnight ago and had undergone a surgery. Ram was attended to by his aged mother Bhukya Hemi (58) in the hospital.

On Wednesday, after he recovered, he was discharged. Ram and his mother managed to hire an auto-rickshaw from the hospital in Mehdipatnam up to the toll gate in Yamanampet village in Ghatkesar for Rs.900. However, the auto-rickshaw driver dropped them there and returned.

From there, though it was slowly getting dark, they had no option to go home but to wait for someone to help them. That was when the Commissioner, who was inspecting the lockdown bandobast, came by and noticed them sitting on the pavement. Bhagwat immediately got down from his vehicle and asked them why they were sitting there.

As they told him their story, he first handed over some eatables and water, after which he took them on his vehicle to the toll plaza in Bibinagar. From there, he organized transport for them to reach their home.

“We stopped a car which was going towards Warangal with a valid pass and requested the driver to drop them at their home,” the Commissioner said, adding that he had checked with his officials to follow up whether Ram and his mother reached home safely.
