Hyderabad: Sankranthi festival rush with many families heading to their native places peaked with bus stations and railway stations remaining packed with passengers on Saturday.

At major bus stations such as Jubilee Bus Station and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stations, platforms were packed with eager passengers to catch buses heading to various districts of Telangana as well to different parts of Andhra Pradesh. Almost all the inter-district and inter-State buses took off with full occupancy and leaving several passengers waiting.

Meanwhile, at Secunderabad and Kacheguda Railway stations, passengers were seen waiting from morning and were found jostling and pushing to get a seat once their trains arrived.

Given the rush at the railway stations, the South Central Railway is running seven Jansadharan special trains on Sunday to clear extra rush of passengers during Sankranti festival season. These trains would run towards Vijayawada and Kakinda.
