Raju Gari Gadhi 3 on cards

“I am waiting for the film to be released. I enjoyed working on the project and it’s like a dream come true. Directing Nagarjuna and Samantha, for a young director like me, is a double bonanza,” says Ohmkar, who was asked by producer Niranjan Reddy to direct Raju Gari Gadhi 2.

Raju Gari Gadhi was a huge hit in 2015 and after two years, the film gets a sequel. Raju Gari Gadhi 2 is hitting the screens this Friday and the director of the movie, Ohmkar reveals a few details of the mystery.

Many have been thinking that the film is a copy of Malayalam movie Pretham. But, says the director, it is just an inspiration from the movie, and the whole plot has been changed in RGG2.

“In that original film, the ghost will be doing nothing but standing. Here, we changed the character, added a family emotion to it and it is also a message-oriented film. Almost 60 to 70 per cent of the story has been rewritten,” adds Ohmkar.

When asked if choosing Nagarjuna and Samantha was his idea, he said that it was the producers who wanted Nagarjuna to play the role of a mentalist. “Samantha playing the ghost was also referred by the producer. It was a month after Nagarjuna has agreed to play the lead; we then approached Samantha and fortunately, both the actors said ‘yes’ immediately,” he says.

While both the father-in-law and daughter-in-law had excelled in their roles, the performance by Samantha has to be mentioned in particular. The actor has never done such a role and in the climax, the audience will see her career’s best performance.

“Both the actors haven’t showed their ‘influence’ on me and were down to earth. They gave me enough freedom to ask them to do what I wanted. They too are happy with the output,” adds the young director.

Ohmkar said that his career in TV production has helped him a lot in making his work easy. Having worked as an anchor, producer, director and also as a script writer for his shows on TV, he had taken all the responsibilities together. He says that this experience was quite useful in the making of Raju Gari Gadhi 2.

When asked about his next projects, Ohmkar says, “I want to do the third part of Raju Gari Gadhi and it would be actor Venkatesh who plays the lead if everything goes according to plan. On the other hand, I also have a love story ready and soon, a young actor will be roped in for this project.”
