Hyderabad: Prof. K Ranga Rao has taken charge as the president of the Telangana Olympic Association on the directions of election officer Justice B Chandra Kumar, on Monday. This was after Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Information Technology of Telangana Government, has been elected for the top post in election held on February 10.
However, after the scrutiny of nominations, Ranjan’s candidature was declared ineligible. The returning officer, in his decision, said that Ranga Rao raised objections seeking Jayesh Ranjan to produce previous sanction of Central Government to participate in elections.
Jayesh Ranjan approached High Court where he obtained interim orders for elections but he was asked to produce the documents before assuming the charge within four weeks of elections. With Jayesh Ranjan not producing the required documents, Ranga Rao took the charge on Monday.
In a letter to K Jagadishwar Yadav, secretary of TOA, Ranga Rao said he assumed the office as president of TOA.
