Women in Khammam draw rangoli designs extending support for the TRS in the municipal elections on Monday.

Khammam: This Sankranti season, women in erstwhile Khammam has found a new way to express their support to TRS candidates in municipal polls — drawing rangoli patterns (mostly ‘Car’ symbol) in front of their houses extending support to party candidates.

At Sathupalli, women in 18th ward drew rangoli supporting the TRS candidate. “Through rangoli, we wish to express our solidarity to the party candidate. We will continue it till the election day,” the women said.

Though there are no elections for the Khammam Municipal Corporation, women in the city have also been drawing rangolis just to send across the message to those in other municipalities.

Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar recently called upon the TRS cadres in Wyra, Sathupalli, Madhira, Kothagudem and Yellandu municipalities to draw rangolis to use it as a campaign tool for the party candidates.

The Minister also suggested party sympathisers include the welfare and development programmes being implemented in Telangana by the State government in their rangoli designs.
