Hyderabad: A buoyant Hyderabad take on hosts Madhya Pradesh in their fifth round match of their four-day Group ‘B’ Ranji Trophy league at Holkar Stadium in Indore from Thursday.
Both the teams come into this match after recording their first wins of the season. While Hyderabad registered a remarkable ten-wicket win over Himachal Pradesh, MP stopped the winning run of Kerala. However, Team Hyderabad is presently placed seventh in the combined Group A & B table with 12 points while the hosts are in the eighth spot with 11 points.
Hyderabad showed lot of character in their previous match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. After skipper Akshath led Hyderabad batting with a clinical 99, they were on the verge of conceding the first innings lead to HP after a middle order collapse but T Ravi Teja had other ideas. The energetic all-rounder, with the help of tailenders, helped Hyderabad to take a slender one-run first innings lead.
After sea-saw battle on the third day for the first innings lead, the match came alive on the fourth and final day as the gangling fast bowler M Ravi Kiran wrecked the HP batting and set up the win for Hyderabad. HP were bundled out for 97 in their second innings. Ravi Kiran bowled straight and fast to script one of the famous wins for Hyderabad.
Hyderabad will look to Ravi Kiran to repeat their Uppal show against a strong MP, who humbled Kerala. The MP batting and bowling came good. An interesting battle is on the cards.
