Visakhapatnam: A Regional Standards Conclave will be held at the Hotel Fairfield Marriot in the city on Wednesday under the aegis of the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, of the Government of India and the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Export Inspection Council (EIC), National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), Bureau of Indian Standards and the Centre for WTO Studies.
Considering the growing importance of standards and conformity for international trade, it is imperative that Indian industry be made aware of the evolving standards regime and the 4th National Standards Conclave that concluded in May 2017, had focused on evolving a National Standards Strategy for India with the aim to promote Sectoral and Regional Inclusiveness, a spokesman of the organisers said. The Regional Conclave will aim to take this further by discussing the standards requirements of the industries dominant in the State of Rajasthan.
“The regional conclave will follow a cluster based approach. The focus sectors are – Manufacturing, Agri and Food Processing, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Textiles, Education Institution, Port, Shipping and Logistics, Information Technology and Tourism.
Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu will deliver the inaugural address,” he said.
