Actor-turned-director Renu Desai accepted the Green India Challenge and planted saplings in a park at Jubilee Hills here in the city on Friday.
“Every one of us has accustomed to apartment culture these days. Back in those times, people had enough space where they would live in independent houses. We had seen our elders growing trees in whatever spaces they had available. But youngsters of today’s generation have very knowledge about growing trees and their significance. So I am accepting this challenge to spread the message — save nature and protect the environment. As part of the challenge that anchor Udaya Bhanu had nominated me, I have decided to plant saplings along with my daughters. My daughters are 10 years of age, I brought them here to explain how saplings are planted and how trees are beneficial to us. Although plants do not give instant fruits or benefits, they help future generations after 15 to 20 years,” Renu Desai said.
Thanking Rajya Sabha member Joginapally Santosh for taking up the initiative, Renu Desai said she doesn’t want to nominate anyone but appealed to everyone to be the part of such green initiatives and plant trees to save the nature.
