Retired bank manger gets jail for cheating in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A local court in LB Nagar on Wednesday sentenced a retired woman bank manager to undergo rigourous imprisonment for a period of two years in a cheating case of Rs 21 lakh. The court also imposed a fine amount of Rs 10,000 on her.

In 2015, the regional manager of the State Bank of India from Lalitha Nagar lodged a complaint with Chaitanyapuri Police stating that D Jyothi Prasad, who was working as manager of Dilsukhnagar branch in 2013 indulged in irregularities in the savings bank account of employees of the erstwhile Satyam Computers and other customers.

“She took the customers’ cheques that returned undelivered and used them to withdraw funds and this way, she fraudulently made Rs 21.50 lakh,” police said adding that the cheating was later revealed during an internal auditing.

Following a complaint, Chaitanyapuri Police arrested Jyothi Prasad, investigated and filed a chargesheet in the court.
