Hyderabad: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s bike ride to a movie theatre in Moosapet on Saturday afternoon to watch Puri Jagannath’s latest flick, ‘iSmart Shankar’ landed the bike owner in a spot of bother with the Cyberabad Traffic Police issuing him a challan.
Varma had tweeted a photograph and video of him triple riding on a Royal Enfield bike, captioning it saying he was going along with ‘Rx 100 film director Ajay Bhupathi and Lakshmi’s NTR’s Agasthya Manju to watch ‘iSmart Shankar at the Sriramulu theatre in Moosapet’.

While the tweet generated its own laughs and comments over the ‘mass getups’ that Varma tweeted about, a Twitter user gave it a twist, quoting Varma himself saying that the three were not wearing helmets and were triple riding as well.
A user Saidi Reddy tweeted the picture of the trio tagging the Hyderabad City Police, Hyderabad Traffic Police and the Cyberabad Traffic Police, following which the police verified the incident.
The response came quickly enough, with the Cyberabad Traffic Police Cyber Control Cell responding to the tweet, saying the information was verified and that an e-challan was generated.
“Usually we get about 200 such tweets from citizens in a day tagging us with pictures and details of various violations. We too immediately verify and generate e-challans,” said an official with the Cyber Cell of Traffic Control.
Officials have generated the challan of Rs 1,335 to Dilip Kumar Badde, the owner of the vehicle bearing number TS 07 GP 2552 for triple riding and driving without helmet in Balanagar Traffic police station limits. While Rs 1,200 was for triple riding, Rs 100 was for not wearing a helmet and Rs 35 as user charges.
“Like any other violation, this too was acted upon quickly and after verifying the details, an e-challan has been issued to the vehicle owner,” officials said.
