Rs 12.60 lakh seized in Mancherial

Mancherial: A total of Rs 12.60 lakh cash kept ready for distribution among voters was seized from a Councillor in Mancherial town on Thursday. According to the police, the accused was identified as Satyanarayana, the husband of Councillor. He confessed to having kept the cash for distributing it to electors with the help of agents. The cash was handed over to the Returning Officer of Mancherial. In a similar incident, large quantities of sarees meant for giving to women voters were seized in Luxettipet town.

Over 6 lakh unaccounted cash seized

Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda Police on Thursday seized Rs 6.9 lakhs of unaccounted cash at Yadagirigutta in Yadadri-Bhongir district. Based on a tip-off, the police conducted search and found one Bathukuri Anand (25) transporting the money in his two-wheeler. He is a resident of Gaganpahad in Rajendra Nagar. The SOT is investigating. In another incident, the police arrested two persons who were reportedly distributing money to voters at Bangarugadda in Miryalaguda and seized Rs 30,000 cash from their possession.
