Visakhapatnam: Glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain will establish a manufacturing unit at Atchyuthapuram in Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore.
Speaking at a seminar on unlocking the economic potential of Andhra Pradesh by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), AP branch here on Saturday, CEO of AP Econmic Development Board (APEDB) J. Krishna Kishore said that the State had made rapid strides since 2014. At present, Saint-Gobain has a modern glass manufacturing unit at Sriperambudur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu and similar plant would be set up here in Visakhapatnam district, he stated.
The State was planning to set up an electronics park in 1,000 acres in the State and wanted to establish an MSME park as well in 175 Assembly constituencies each in the State and some of them have already started functioning, he said.
On the role of the APEDB, Krishna Kishore said that it was a statutory body created by the State Government to facilitate policy formulation and attracting investment in different sectors. So far, it had Rs 2.47 lakh crores of committed investment in different projects, he disclosed.
