Sangareddy: Undertrial inmates of Sangareddy Jail and convicts waiting for release can be well groomed even during their stay in jail since the prison authorities have opened a modern hair salon for them. They can have facial, face pack and modern haircutting and shaving at the ultramodern salon, but they need to pay to avail these additional services.
Superintendent of the Jail, Sangareddy, Shiva Kumar Goud said they normally offer cutting and shaving services without charging anything in the jail to all the inmates on a regular basis. However, he said that they wanted to offer facials, hair dye and other services which are offered in modern salons outside.
The Department of Prisons, which had got recognition worldwide for the innovative reforms it had introduced, has come up with two more innovative programmes. Apart from opening the hair salon, the authorities also opened a supermarket in jail, where prisoners can buy ice-cream, juices, and other products. Director General of Prisons, VK Singh inaugurated the two services in the jail premises recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said that they wanted to provide all the services to inmates on the premises of the jail. He further said that they have introduced the service for the first time in Sangareddy Jail. Shiva Kumar Goud said that they would provide training to a couple of inmates on hair salon services before appointing at the salon. He further said that two inmates each would get employment at the Hair Salon and Super Market.
