Hyderabad: A 26-year-old man from Sangareddy was injured when he was shot by an unidentified person in California early on Sunday, family members of the victim said.

Mubeen Ahmed, a native of Sangareddy district, had gone to the United States in February, 2015, to pursue his Masters course in a University. He had completed the course two months ago and was doing a temporary job at a private store at a location a few km away from California.

Mujeeb Ahmed, the victim’s father who works at a military institution in Secunderabad, told Telangana Today that Mubeen was at the store when a few persons of black origin came in to make some purchase.

“There was some altercation between the customers and Mubeen. Later, they fired at him resulting in a rupture in his stomach and damage to liver,” said Mujeeb.

Mubeen was rushed to Eden Medical Centre in Castro Valley where he underwent surgery.

“Two of our relatives who stay in Chicago have reached California and are attending to Mubeen. Doctors said that his condition continues to be critical,” the distraught father said.
