Fashion is ever-changing and new trends keep cropping up every now and then. So one has to be extremely creative and skilled to enter the fashion industry. Sustaining in the industry and standing out from the rest is even harder. But Appalashetty Santhosh Kumar, who hails from Chandampet, Shankarampet (R) Village Medak, managed to create waves in the southern fashion industry at a young age.

Santhosh did close to thirty fashion weeks as a designer and worked for 150 advertisements as a fashion stylist which gave him his own identity in the film industry too. “I always wanted to do something creative in my life. Even when I was pursuing my degree in Fashion Design from Hamstech, I used to work as a freelancer to gain practical experience,” says Santhosh, who moved to Hyderabad in 2008, joined BSc Microbiology and later pursued BSc in Fashion Designing.

“I come from a humble background. My village has no public transport even now. My dad is an electrician and it was not at all easy for me to get to this stage. Like all parents, even mine were worried about me. However, once I started pursuing the Fashion Designing course, my parents started trusting my choices and supporting me,” says this young fashion designer.

In 2013, he established his own flagship store under the label ‘Santhosh Kumar’. The brand Santhosh Kumar epitomizes luxury and grandeur, caters to the needs of the elite men and women and its range includes western, wedding, casuals, club wear and resort wear.

Santhosh worked for the Tamil movie Asurakulam, the Telugu movie Marshal and for celebrities such as Ajmal Ameer, Anson Paul, Karthik Jayaram, Vidya Pradeep, Prasana Master and Shabaresh, among others.

“I specialise in menswear. Lot of men want to get their wedding suit customised and they don’t know the right place or the right choice to make, which made me focus more on menswear. Now I can provide wide range of collection to them,” concludes Santhosh.
