Hyderabad: The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has set an all-time record clocking its highest turnover yet of Rs 22,667 crore for 2017-18, resulting in a record profit of Rs 1,200 crore, the highest in the company’s history. Along the way, SCCL also set some other benchmarks for itself.
These include a record dispatch of 646 lakh tonnes of coal and removal of 396 million cubic metres of overburden (soil and rock above coal in open cast mines), SCCL said on Monday.
The company, the largest single employer in Telangana State, said that after the formation of the State, it stood as one of the leading companies in the country.
This was made possible because of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision that SCCL should emerge as a model company for others to follow. In a release, the company said the achievements during 2017-18 were also made possible with the leadership provided by its Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar, its staff and workers.
The company, according to Sridhar, has chalked out a Rs 12,000-crore plan that includes several development activities aimed at taking its turnover from this year’s Rs 22,667 crore to Rs 34,000 crore. Sridhar said SCCL will take up 13 new projects in the next five years and plans to increase production of coal from 650 lakh tonnes to 850 lakh tonnes.
