Each day is a constant balancing act between office and home, impromptu meetings and conversations, and a host of other factors. Therefore, sticking to a routine can be difficult. But, there’s something to be said about keeping a routine, it can improve overall health and productivity. Also remember, there are many ways to get into a routine, but make sure it works for you.

“You have tasks that you do every single day or every week. But, one has to take time and keep a routine for sleeping, eating, and exercising. These are the three crucial elements for living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. One has to do it in the way it works best for them,” says Tushar Jha, a city-based fitness expert.

Keeping these three basic elements in mind, frame important rules and programme your body accordingly.

Ritual of sleep

Going to bed and waking up each day around the same time is the first step to start a routine. Set an alarm if you cannot wake up automatically at the same time every morning.
In order to fall asleep, strive to turn off phones, tablets or anyother electronic gadgets at least half an hour prior to getting into bed. Allow your eyes to relax and put your mind at ease.

Eat at regular time

“One’s body responds well to repetition when it comes to eating. It is like muscle memory for stomachs. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so make sure you stick to a time for that,” says Tushar.

Exercise daily

Adding further, he says, “When it comes to physical activity, people take it seriously once in a while. But, they should make it as a goal to move in some way every day. It improves balance, helps in weight loss. Design a programme that works best for you, but do take expert advise.”
