Hyderabad: A video of three students of the Government Primary School, Chawni Nade Ali Baig No.1 in the old city being forced to carry vessels of water to the school daily surfaced on social media on Wednesday, triggering a controversy.

In the video, the three children are shown being forced to carry a vessel of water as the school does not have a water connection. The video was shot on Tuesday, and posted on Twitter by Majlis Bachao Tehreek spokesman Amjed Ullah Khan on Wednesday, seeking strict action against the school management.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Khan said that it was a routine affair for the school’s children to
carry vessels of water as they do not have a water connection.

“Daily at least 10 children are made to do this work. When I went to the school to enquire about the issue, no teacher was present. I have raised the issue with the Hyderabad District Collector for action against the school management,” he said.

G Ramesh, District Educational Officer, Hyderabad, was not available for comment.
