Hyderabad: Irrespective of the services to which they belonged, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were equally relevant to all the Civil Servants, said Yuri Afanasiev, United Nations Resident Coordinator in India here on Friday. Speaking at a panel discussion on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) conducted at Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Telangana as a part of the 92nd Foundation Course, he said SDGs will have a salutary impact on its success when the trainee Civil Servants, irrespective of their services play a proactive role in it’s successful implementation.
The course is being attended by over 200 All India Services and Central Civil Services Officers from across the country, according to a press release.
India is one of the 193 countries that signed the Resolution of United Nations General Assembly adopting 17 SDGs and 169 targets that cover economic growth, social inclusion, environmental protection and peace and partnership across the globe.
“It is commendable to see that the Government of India is showing strong commitment to SDGs by conceptualising and executing innovative schemes” Afanasiev said. Dr. AK Jain, Advisor, NITI Aayog, New Delhi said all the major initiatives of the government have been aligned with the SDGs which resulted in achieving the goals. On this occasion, proceedings of the National Workshop on SDGs, conducted by the institute recently and also the e-Learning Module on SDGs were launched.
