Hyderabad: BJP National Executive Committee member N Indrasena Reddy accused the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) of inaction in controlling the violations by ruling TRS on the eve of Municipal elections slated for Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the SEC has been indifferent to the government’s announcement of releasing Rs 5,100 crore for ‘Yasangi’ Rythu Bandhu. “If it is a continuing programme, then why did the government release the details to the press for publication? Is it not an effort to influence the voter? Did the government take permission from the EC to do so? ” he said.

He further said that the government still had to pay Rs 1,600 crore pending to farmers under Rythu Bandhu for Kharif season.

Alleging that the SEC had surrendered to the State government, he said: “The Commission has become listless, no action was initiated against criminals who attacked BJP candidates and intimidated BJP supporters. There is rampant distribution of liquor and cash everywhere.”

He said the State BJP had been sending details of attacks on BJP cadre and candidates on day-to-day basis but no action had been taken by the authorities so far.
