Senior sports journalist passes away

Sreenivasulu, a native of Mahabubnagar, started his career in 'Andhra Jyothi' and went on to work for many Telugu newspapers including 'Vaartha' before becoming Sports Editor of 'Sakshi'

Hyderabad: Senior sports journalist from Hyderabad Jannu Sreenivasulu, 55, passed away here on Sunday morning. He is survived by wife, daughter, and two sons.

Sreenivasulu, a native of Mahabubnagar, started his career in ‘Andhra Jyothi’ and went on to work for many Telugu newspapers including ‘Vaartha’ before becoming Sports Editor of ‘Sakshi’ Television. Called Chitti or Jessy, affectionately by his friends, the senior journalist covered sports for close to 30 years. Known for his passion for sports, he covered several international cricket matches and sports tournaments.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao extended his condolences to the bereaved family members of the sports writer. Minister for Excise, Sports and Youth Services, T Padma Rao Goud also expressed sorrow at the untimely demise of the sports journalist. The sports fraternity in Hyderabad expressed shock at the sudden demise of Sreenivasulu. Chairman of Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS), A Venkateshwara Reddy mourned the death of the journalist.
