Though police officials suspect she is allegedly playing the victim card, they are trying to verify her claims. Sources said Chowdary, who was questioned by the Narsingi police and officials of the Special Operations Team on Friday and Saturday, reportedly said that she was duped to the tune of several crores by other people. Her transactions are now being double-checked to verify her claims.

The officials questioned Chowdary on the details of her transactions and though she initially denied knowing anything about the transactions, confessed to them when officials showed her proof. It is learned that she told the police that she had returned the money she took from people, but there was no relevant documentary proof for these return transactions.

Meanwhile, the police inspected the properties purchased by Chowdary and her husband T Srinivas Prasad. The Narsingi police had taken two days custody of Chowdary, starting from Friday for further questioning in the multi-crore fraud case. The questioning was being done in the presence of her counsel and women police personnel.

Sources said though preliminary investigation so far indicated that she cheated people to the tune of nearly Rs10 crore, officials suspect that the amount and number of victims could be more, if the allegations against her were true.

The couple was arrested last Saturday, following cases booked against them on charges of cheating people on the pretext of investment in real estate. Under the guise of hosting kitty parties at their posh villa in Gandipet, Chowdary allegedly lured several persons, including business persons and film actors, into investing huge money in real estate.
