Siddipet: Brain dead man gives new lease of life to seven

The victim identified as R Shankar (35), a native of Mamidyala in Mulug Mandal, met with an accident on Rajiv Rahadari on Saturday.

Siddipet: A man, who was declared brain dead following a road accident, has given new lease of life to seven persons after his family agreed to donate his organs including the heart.

The victim identified as R Shankar (35), a native of Mamidyala in Mulug Mandal, met with an accident on Rajiv Rahadhari on Saturday. Shankar, who was rushed to nearest Local Area Hospital at Gajwel, was shifted to Yashoda Hospital Hyderabad, where the doctors declared him as brain dead.

Following the suggestion of doctors, his wife, Chandrakala and other relatives have accepted to donate the victim’s organs. Shankar’s heart was donated to a youth, who was suffering from a heart disease. The doctors have transplanted the heart successfully to a 23-year-old youth at Century Hospital, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The organ donor, survived by wife Chandrakala, daughter Renunka, and son Bunny, was laid to rest at his village on Sunday. The locals urged the Telangana government to support the bereaved family since they have donated the organs through ‘Telangana Jeevandhara’ following the suggestion of doctors.
