Siddipet students to tie Rakhi to saplings

Siddipet: To make the students develop strong love towards saplings planted on the premises of the school, District Educational Officer, K Ravikanth has issued a circular to all the schools to oragnise Vruksha Bandhan on the eve of Raksha Bandhan on August 15.

To inculcate a sense of responsibility among the school children on the importance of protecting saplings planted on the premises of their respective schools, the teachers will make the students tie a Rakhi to each sapling planted on the premises of the schools.

The DEO issued the circular following the suggestion of the former Minister and Siddipet MLA, T Harish Rao. As the Principal of Model School, Irkode, R Nagaraju has sent a message on WhatsApp informing him how they were conducting Vruksha Bandhan to inculcate a sense of the responsibility towards saplings among the students. Harish Rao has asked the DEO to conduct such programme on the day of Raksha Bandhan in all schools.

The DEO has directed all the Mandal Educational Officers, headmasters, principals, special officers of government schools to make each and every student to adopt a sapling and tie a Rakhi on the day of Raksha Bandhan. They will also pledge to protect the saplings. The students will have to adopt a sapling planted in their home or agriculture field or saplings planted in public places close to their home if there were not enough saplings for every child in the school. The students will have to water the plant every day besides monitoring its growth. Harish Rao has observed that such activity will leave a strong impact on the young minds on the importance of raising the saplings.
