Hyderabad: The investor-friendly policies of the State government came in for praise from the Singapore Consul General in Chennai, Pong Kok Tian, when he called on IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao here on Tuesday.
Describing Telangana as an ideal destination for several companies from the island nation, the visiting dignitary assured all support to encourage Singapore companies to invest in the State. Rama Rao, in turn, offered complete support on behalf of the State government to investors from Singapore in establishing their companies in Telangana State. He proposed a meeting with investors from Singapore-based companies who are looking for opportunities to invest in the State.
During an interaction with the Singapore delegation led by Pong Kok Tian at his office, the Minister highlighted the robust infrastructure and investor-friendly policies of the State. He discussed various opportunities for Singapore companies to invest in sectors such as IT, urban infrastructure, pharma and tourism. He pointed out that major global companies had already set up their offices in Hyderabad.
“Through its single-window clearance initiative of TS-iPASS, the State government introduced an investor-friendly industrial policy. The State has been transformed into a favourite destination for global companies in the last five years and we have been consistently ranked top in Ease of Doing Business index in the country,” the Minister said.
Rama Rao suggested to the Consul General that he visit various the various industrial parks and incubators like T-Hub to explore the ecosystem in the State. He stated that Singapore-based Surbana Jurong was preparing the master plan for Hyderabad Pharma City and requested the Consul General to assist the State government in inviting major pharma companies from Singapore for the BioAsia 2020 to be held next year.
