Warangal Urban: Scores of Muslims under the aegis of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) staged a protest after morning prayers in front of Madrasi mosque at Mandi Bazar in Warangal on Friday demanding severe punishment for the culprits who raped and murdered eight-year-old Asifa in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Sd Ahmed Ali, SIO Warangal city president, demanded the government to fast-track judicial proceedings in the case and take action on the perpetrators regardless of their social and political background.

“The recent incidents including abduction, rape and murder of the eight-year-old girl hailing from Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, and the rape of a Dalit girl in Unnao in Uttar Pradesh have brought shame on the nation. In both the cases, the powerful and mighty perpetrators were involved,” he added.

Md Fidouse Ali, city secretary, SIO, and more than 500 persons participated in the demonstration.
