Rajanna-Sircilla: Sircilla District Hospital recorded its highest number of deliveries in a month in November when 324 babies were delivered, with 98 of them being normal deliveries.
This was possible due to the commitment and hard work of the doctors, nursing and other staff of the hospital. As part of the State government’s decision to strengthen government hospitals, the district hospital was allotted adequate doctors and latest equipment and other facilities were also set up under the supervision of the local MLA and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao.
The number of patients visiting the hospital for treatment also shot up with better services being provided by doctors and other staff. The number of pregnant women opting for the district hospital for deliveries has also increased, subsequently leading to an increase in number over the months. While there were 303 deliveries in October, an average of 290 to 300 deliveries is carried out in the hospital every month.
Besides ensuring latest equipment, Gynaecologists have also been brought to the hospital from Karimnagar on deputation to provide better treatment to pregnant women round the clock.
Besides carrying out safe deliveries, the hospital staff is helping boost the confidence among pregnant women through counselling. The nursing staff, who have undergone midwifery training, are providing better medical services to lactating mothers.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Muralidhar Rao said pregnant women were opting for the district hospital as modern equipment such as CTG, Peter Doppler and Ultrasound machines, modern laboratory room, hydraulic operation tables and other facilities were developed besides providing KCR kit.
Stating that qualified doctors, midwifery nurses and modern equipment were available in the hospital, he said treatment was being provided to patients on par with corporate hospitals. He advised the poor not to get into debt by spending huge amounts on deliveries in private hospitals and utilising the free services in government hospitals.
