Sircilla Kothacheruvu to be developed as tourism spot

Rajanna Sircilla: Sircilla town, which has seen a lot of developmental activities in the past few years, would soon have a modern recreation centre.

Realising the need to have an area that would offer recreational activities to the locals, the Sircilla municipality, following the advise of local MLA and IT and Municipal Administration Minister, K T Rama Rao has decided to develop Sircilla Kothacheruvu (tank) into a tourism spot.

The tank is being developed with modern facilities especially for children. In the first phase, various developmental works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 9.5 crore.

Besides a 1.2 km bund, a park is also being developed in 3.5 acres. A yoga shed, tunnel, two train platforms, open air amphitheatre, baby care centre, toilets and other facilities are being developed.

Visitors, particularly children, can take a joy tide in the train, and a dais is also being constructed in the open air theatre to facilitate children give performances. People can also conduct small functions at the theatre.

Besides adventure sports, different types of slides including crocodile, aeroplane and dinosaur have been arranged. The children’s zone includes climbing walls, musical play equipment, zip cycling and others are also being developed.

Municipal authorities are also planning to construct a suspension bridge from the main entrance plaza to an island to be developed in the second phase. A zip line would be laid from the park to the island that would take children on zip cycle.

The plan for the second phase project has also been prepared and sent to the government for approval. The works on the second phase would be taken up after getting approval from the government, a municipal officer said.
