Six more native migrants test positive for Covid-19 in Mancherial

District Covid-19 nodal officer Balaji said that the three migrants belonging to Kishtapur village in Jannaram mandal and their three counterparts from Rotiguda village of similar mandal were found to have infected with the acute respiratory disease.

Mancherial: Six native migrants returned from Mumbai tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday night. They were shifted to Hyderabad on Saturday. With these latest patients, the district’s total cases reached to 28 so far and of them 27 were migrants.

District Covid-19 nodal officer Balaji said that the three migrants belonging to Kishtapur village in Jannaram mandal and their three counterparts from Rotiguda village of similar mandal were found to have infected with the acute respiratory disease. They were shifted from an insolation centre in Bellampalli to Hyderabad.

On May 21, four more migrants workers, returned from Mumbai to the district tested positive for Covid-19 in Mancherial. Nearly 2,000 migrants of Jannaram, Hajipur, Luxettipet and Dandepalli mandals came back from Maharashtra following relaxation of norms of the lockdown from May first week.

Arrival of the migrant to the district resulted in rise of the Covid-19 cases in Mancherial. The district registered only a single case in April. Police along with authorities of medical and health departments launched an extensive survey for identifying the migrants in these mandals, recently.
