Six naxals arrested, weapons seized in Sircilla

Two country made revolvers seized from CPI-ML Ramachandram group naxalites by Sircilla police on Monday.

Rajanna-Sircilla: Sircilla police arrested six members of CPI-ML Ramachandram group of naxals, including its north Telangana secretary on Monday.

Based on reliable information that the naxals were organising meeting in the hillocks of Mandepalli, police rushed to the spot and detained six members. Two country-made revolvers, five revolver rounds, six mobile phones, party literature, letter heads and membership books were seized.

North Telangana secretary Suddapalli Sudhakar, a resident of Mamidipalli of Nizamabad; State committee secretary Uradi Lingaiah of Bhagavanthnagar; secretary Kankanala Anjaiah of Deshaipally in Sircilla; secretary Boini Devaiah of Ramalaxmanapalli, Mustabad mandal; district committee member Payyavula Govardhan of Peddalingapur, Ellanthakunata mandal, and Siddipet district committee member Ambati Vittal of Ojakkapur, Siddipet, were arrested.

Producing them before the media here on Monday, Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde said the newly-formed group decided to extort money from business community, landlords and political leaders.

As part of their strategy, four month ago, Sudhakar had given weapons to Lingaiah and Anjaiah, who demanded Rs 5 lakh from one Lyagala Thirupathi of Peddalingapur.
