Former Minister T. Harish Rao along with president elect, Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Dr. P. Raghu Ram on Wednesday launched several social initiatives aimed at improving education, health and infrastructure at Ibrahimpur village in Medak district.

Hyderabad: Former Minister T Harish Rao along with Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) president elect Dr P Raghu Ram launched several social initiatives aimed at improving education, health and infrastructure at Ibrahimpur village in Medak district on Wednesday.

The cancer surgeon, who has adopted Ibrahimpur village, has pledged to raise Rs 2 crore to construct an animal hostel, similar to a concept being implemented in Gujarat. The facility will provide shelter for nearly 200 cows and buffaloes of Ibrahimpur under one roof.

Harish Rao and Dr Raghu Ram also launched free tuition facility for all the 150 government school children in Ibrahimpur village and three teachers have been handpicked to conduct extra classes in the school premises.

A fully equipped gymnasium with a dedicated instructor to teach Yoga was also launched to ensure healthy living of the villagers. “A population-based breast cancer screening programme in Siddipet assembly constituency will be taken shortly,” Dr. Raghu Ram said.

The animal hostel is aimed to reduce drudgery for women, improve human health, better management of dung and urine, integrated animal care and production of Gobar gas.
