Mahabubabad: Expressing displeasure over the poor progress in the construction of the Individual Sanitary Latrines (ISLs), District Collector Ch Shivalingaiah directed the officials concerned to achieve 100 per cent target by May 25. He was speaking at a review meeting to take stock of the ISLs work progress village and mandal wise in the district through a video conference here on Thursday.
Addressing the officials, Shivalingaiah was peeved over the slow progress in the construction of the ISLs. “While the target was 18,229 till May 15, only 4,245 ISLs were constructed so far. The remaining are at the different levels,” he said adding that stern action would be taken against those who show laxity in the execution of the work and asked the MPDOs, EOs of the PRD and APO to visit the village at the field level and see the progress of the ISLs on regular basis.
He also added that he would make surprise visits to the villages and take action, if he finds no desired progress in the ISLs. “ The MPDOs must visit the village at 7 am itself and supervise the progress of the ISLs,” he added.
“By June 2, the District should be declared Open Defecation Free (ODF),” he said. On the other hand, he also asked the officials to provide work to each and every job card holder whoever asks for the work and achieve the Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) parameters by the end of this month.
“Dumping yard, percolation tanks, farm ponds, kitchen sheds, graveyards, sheds for animals, and toilets at the government schools can be taken up under the NREGS,” he added.
DPO Rangachary, DHSO Suryanarayna, DRDO Balaram, APD Dayakar Rao and others participated in the conference.
