Hyderabad: The south-west monsoon on Wednesday afternoon lay tantalizingly poised on the southern border of Telangana. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the northern limit of the monsoon lay just along the south of Telangana. It said the atmospheric conditions were favourable for further advance of south-west monsoon into some parts of Telangana by Thursday afternoon with the possibility of the entire State being covered by the monsoon on Friday.

The weatherman also said the onset of the monsoon over Telangana was slightly behind normal when water bearing clouds usually enter over the State. The monsoon, the IMD said, had so far advanced in some more parts of south interior Karnataka, most parts of Rayalaseema, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and large swathes of Bay of Bengal. Much of the rest of the country is likely to be covered between June 9 and 11, IMD said.

It also said Thursday can witness light to moderate rain or thundershowers at some places in the State. It also warned that isolated spots in Telangana might experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds or heavy rains.
