Special police teams to check child labour

A coordination meeting was conducted by the Superintendent of Police with the officials of Police Department and Integrated Child Development Scheme.

Nalgonda: The district Superintendent of Police N Prakash Reddy on Tuesday said that five-member police teams were set up for each sub-division to take up Operation Smile-III in the district, aimed at tracing the missing children and checking child labour cases.

A coordination meeting was conducted by the Superintendent of Police with the officials of Police Department and Integrated Child Development Scheme. N Prakash Reddy said at the meeting that the police teams would be led by sub inspectors. In addition to police, Child Welfare Committee members, officials of ICDS, Labour Department and Education Department would also take part. 

The teams would identify the children moving in bus stands, railway stations, footpaths and children working in hotels and rescue them. They would also trace the missing children and try to unite them with their parents, he added.

Circle Inspectors Ravinder and Dhanunjay, sub-inspectors Balagopal, Arif, Sardar Naik and Prakash, District Child Protection Officer Ganesh and Child Line District Coordinator Nagi Reddy also attended the meeting.
