Nirmal: Endowments and Housing Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that State government laid a special focus on curbing mortality rate of infants and new mothers. He distributed KCR Kits to mothers here on Saturday. He was accompanied by Adilabad Zilla Parishad chairperson V Shobharani.

Indrakaran Reddy asserted that the kits were being provided to women who deliver children in order to encourage institutional deliveries. The objective of the scheme is to ensure safety of infants and new mothers and to reduce financial burden caused on families after giving birth to a baby.

The Minister observed that certain private hospitals were indulging in unnecessary caesarean operations and removing uterus. But, State government is extending financial aid right from conceiving pregnancy to delivery in phased manner. He suggested pregnant women to follow immunisation vaccinations without giving a miss.

Collector K Ilambarithi, Nirmal municipal chairperson A Ganesh, agriculture market committee chairman Devender Redy, district medical and health officer Dr Jalapathi Naik, district headquarters hospital superintendent Dr Suresh and many other officials were present.
