Special teams to oversee Ganesh immersion in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Elaborate arrangements are being put in place for the upcoming Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities in the city and special teams would be deployed to oversee the arrangements during the idol immersion procession, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said here on Wednesday.

A coordination meeting of officials from different wings of the city administration with representatives of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi on Wednesday discussed various arrangements to be put in place for the festivities.

It was made clear that before installation, organisers of Ganesh mandaps would have to furnish an intimation to the local police and clearance for each of the mandap would be issued by the police after examination.

Janardhan Reddy said special arrangements such as LED lighting and deployment of Ganesh Action Teams would be taken up for the idol immersion procession. One team would be made available for every three to four kilometres with each team comprising 20-plus members for proper coordination and guiding for smooth flow of the procession, he said.

General Secretary of Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Bhagavanth Rao wanted the officials to provide uninterrupted power supply for the 11 days and uninterrupted water supply for two days during idol immersion along the procession route.

Highlighting security measures, City Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy said that the entire procession route would be monitored through surveillance cameras and a control room would be set up for the purpose of monitoring.

Ganesh Utsav Samithi informed that installation of Ganesh idols would be taken up on August 25 and nimajjanam on September 5.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and others were also present at the meeting.
