Hyderabad: Stressing that there was no dearth of funds, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to expedite Strategic Road Development Programe (SRDP) projects.
The Minister specifically instructed the agencies executing the works to deploy additional men and machinery to complete the projects as per schedule. “There is no dearth of funds and the bills are being cleared in time. Ensure the works are expedited,” Rao told officials, while reviewing the progress of 18 works being taken up under SRDP at the GHMC office here.
Rao also wanted officials and agencies to execute different works simultaneously to ensure early completion of the projects. Foundation and installation of piers of flyovers and other structures should be taken up from both ends. “Think innovatively and come up with strategies that aid in completing the works as per schedule,” he said.
After reviewing the project-wise progress, the Minister directed engineering officials to instruct the agencies to deploy additional manpower and machinery at each work site. Stressing on the speedy execution of works, he said workers should be made to work in three shifts. If required, traffic can be diverted on other routes during day time and these issues would be taken up with the Police Department, he said.
Different government departments should work in tandem and there should be coordination to complete the projects. Delay in shifting of utilities, slow pace of land of acquisition and other works should be avoided, he said.
