St Andrew’s emerge champions in inter-school football tournament

Hyderabad: Hosts St Andrew’s School defeated Meridian School, Jubilee Hills by a solitary goal in the final of the 12th Dr John De Souza inter-school football tournament at Old Bowenpally on Monday.

The all-important goal was scored by Sakshit. Aman Dung Dung of St Andrew’s School was declared as the best player of the final.

Meanwhile, Pallav School (Alwal) took the third edging past St Andrew’s School B 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out after both the teams locked in a drawn encounter in full time. Aditya of St Andrew’s School B received the best player award for this match.

Tournament awards: Best goalkeeper- Vishruth Pulluru (St Andrews School-A); Best striker: Venkata Sai Surya Teja (St Andrews School-A). Best player of the tournament: Aman Dung Dung (St Andrews School-A).

Hockey Olympian Alloysius Edwards was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners.
